Our OneFlow hard water filter systems are effective for all limescale problems, but particularly good if other hard water filters you've tried before haven't worked or you live in an area with extremely hard water.
The OneFlow systems use Template Assisted Crystallisation (TAC). See below for more information.
OneFlow is an environmentally friendly alternative to a water softener, or any other device that's been designed to treat hard water.
Template Assisted Crystallisation. It's where the primary hardness mineral (calcium carbonate) is converted into microscopic crystals that can flow freely through the water filter system instead of attaching to fixtures, pipes and appliances and forming scale deposits.
TAC is the most effective salt-free, environmentally friendly scale prevention technology there is.
A water softener removes calcium carbonate and magnesium ions from hard water and replaces them with salt through the principles of 'ion exchange'. You can't drink water that's been through a water softener without first removing the salt.
Water softeners require far more equipment than a OneFlow hard water filter. OneFlow needs nothing more than an inlet and outlet connection, whereas a water softener requires a control valve, backwashing, drain line, regeneration and a brine tank to store the salt.
You can use OneFlow on ANY application where scale reduction from water hardness is required or desirable. Examples include, but are not limited to:
No, OneFlow on it's own doesn't remove chlorine or fluoride. You can however add an extra stage to your OneFlow system that will remove chlorine and fluoride is you wish.
The OneFlow media will treat the incoming water supply for scale as well as the residual effect for any existing scale in the system. This residual effect will break up existing scale formations and flush them through when water is used, resulting in clumps of scale in dishwashers, kettles, shower heads, formation on taps.
This effect generally occurs from months 2-6, so you install the product, it works really well and there's an immediate impact for a short period of time. But then for a period of time scale starts to appear. You start panicking! Sometimes this will be small amounts and other times larger clumps will have loosened over a period of time and worked through the system.
As you get into months 7 and 8 you start to see the real benefits from OneFlow.
So, perseverance is key here.
If you occupy a new build and it's been untreated with OneFlow for a period of perhaps 6 months you might think that not much scale would exist in the pipework. However, for any untreated period there would be quite a lot of scale forming inside the pipework.
Scale forms in plastic pipe in just the same way it does in copper pipes.
There is no way to change the behaviour of the media and all customers go through this process to some degree, depending on how hard your water was to start with.
So, we ask that you persist and improvements will be seen. Treating hard water is one of the most difficult things to treat but we really believe in OneFlow.
