What is Activated Carbon?

Activated Carbon is a form of carbon that's been processed to have small, low-volume pores that increase the surface area available for adsorption or chemical reactions. 

Activated Carbon is commonly used in water purification as it removes harmful pollutants. The majority of our drinking water filters and mains water filters use activated carbon filter cartridges. 

Particularly useful in distilled alcoholic beverage manufacture; activated carbon filters remove impurities which can affect the colour, taste and odour of the spirit - e.g. in vodka or whiskey. 

Activated Carbon is produced from carbonaceous source materials such as bamboo, coconut husk, willow peat, wood, coir, lignite, coal, and petroleum pitch. Our carbon block water filter cartridges contain carbon that's derived mainly from coconut husk. We also have water filter cartridges that contain granular activated carbon (GAC). Granulated carbons are commonly used in water treatment. 

How do I change the Big Bubba cartridge?

All you need to do is:

1. Remove the swing bolts

2. Remove the lid

3. Rotate the cartridge a 1/4 turn and pull up.
