A water filter for limescale is a compact drinking water filter that contains an anti-scale water filter cartridge. The filter is normally situated underneath your kitchen sink.
Once water has passed through the anti-scale water filter cartridges it is dispensed via a separate drinking water filter tap or a 3 way tap.
Limescale remover water filters are essential to combat hard water issues in your home.
A limescale water filter can either be installed on its own or as part of a twin drinking water filter system. This means you benefit from the removal of chlorine and other contaminants that may be present in your water.
Drinking hard water is not considered to have a negative health impact. Calcium and magnesium; the minerals that contribute to hard water are important from a health perspective.
That’s why it’s important to keep them in your drinking water.
Our limescale water filters do not remove the calcium and magnesium, they merely change the physical properties of those minerals, so they don’t appear as hard unsightly scale build up.
The reason why our limescale water filters are suitable for drinking water only is due to their size.
The flow rate of water is reduced through a smaller filter.
If you try to use a limescale water filter for your whole house, you would be very disappointed with the slow trickle of water coming out of your taps.
If you purchase a Pearl limescale water filter, this uses polyphosphate crystals which we insert into the middle of a carbon block cartridge. When water passes through these crystals a small amount is dissolved into the water which inhibits the formation of scale. It’s a chemical process known as sequestration. The carbon block also removes chlorine and other contaminants.
Our Pearl OneFlow limescale water filter uses template or media assisted crystallisation (TAC or MAC) and these white sand like granules work in a different way to polyphosphate crystals.
Each grain of OneFlow media has multiple crystallisation sites. Calcium and magnesium minerals are physically attracted to these sites, and they stick together to form small clumps which flow out of the filter and through the plumbing system without sticking to your appliances and causing hard scale. No chemicals are introduced into the water with OneFlow.
When it comes to buying a limescale water filter, it all boils down to how hard your water is.
OneFlow works for all hardness levels whereas polyphosphate crystals only work up to water that’s classed as moderately hard.
