Removing coliform bacteria from your water can be done when you install one of our bacteria water filters.
Our filters are extremely efficient at killing bacteria, viruses and other micro-organisms such as Campylobacter, E.Coli, Cryptosporidium and other cysts, for example Giardia; all mainly found in untreated water, for example private water supplies.
To ensure that your bacteria water filter remains effective, we encourage you to change your filter cartridges every 6-12 months depending on how many people are in your house and how much water is being used.
For municipal water supplies please select either a Pearl B, Oyster TBC, Pearl DUC, Moby Rio or a Moby TBC.
The DUC and Rio use ceramic filters. The smaller the pore size of a filter and the more complicated the water's path through the filter medium, the more particles are removed. A Doulton ceramic cartridge has a small and complex pore structure so it's a perfect filter medium. and an effective and highly efficient barrier to particles and pathogens. The ceramic cartridge is capable of filtering sub micron particles and pathogenic bacteria from drinking water. They also last a long time as the Doulton cartridges can be cleaned in order to prolong the life of the product.
It is possible to combine the Doulton cartridge with other filter media, for example an activated carbon block if you wish to remove chlorine as well. For private water supplies, take a look at the UV water treatment systems. A UV system works by destroying the DNA of the bacteria, thereby neutralising it. The water passes through a chamber which is flooded with UV light. The UV light shines powerfully through the water passing through the chamber. You need an electricity supply for a UV system to work and you should also consider a pre-filter to ensure that the UV works to it's optimum level.
