Moby TMF Cartridge Set

Water filter replacement cartridges for our Moby TMF, comprising:

• 1: 10 x 4.5 inch Activated Alumina filter cartridge (Fluoride reduction)
• 1: 10 x 4.5 inch Granular Activated Carbon / KDF cartridge (metals removal)

Cartridge details:

• 2 x GAC10N/KDF-BOM cartridge which contains 0.75lbs of KDF and 0.75 litres of GAC
• 2.5 x 10"
• 20 micron
• 2,500 gallons/11,365 litres cartridge lifespan, or 12 months; whichever comes first

and...

• 2 x Watts Intelifil IF-SM-AA010 activated alumina fluoride removal filter cartridges
• 10 micron
• Temperature range 40°F (4°C) to 100°F (38°C)
• Pressure range 25 psi (1.7 bar) to 100 psi (6.9 bar)
• Capacity 5,000 mg/l
• Flow rate - 0.38 lpm / 0.25 gpm
• Reduction ability - 10ppm to <0.2ppm

Or on some occasions 2 x Aqua Cera CF-AA-IMP cartridges may be substituted. This does the same job as the IF-SM-AA010. They’re just different brands.

• Reduction ability – 10ppm to <0.2ppm

Why do I need to change the o-ring?

You can tell if the seals start leaking, which is obvious, I know.

Even if there are no leaks you may find that the profile of the O ring becomes flattened because of prolonged time under compression. The cross section should be round and if it's not it may not seal easily.

However, I recommend that you replace the O rings every two or three years as a precautionary measure.

One of the main reasons for changing O rings periodically is that as they age and compress, the housing bowl needs to be tightened excessively. That leads to difficulty loosening the bowl from the cap next time the cartridge needs to be replaced.
