Product Description

This is the replacement water filter cartridge set for our Oyster Taste and OneFlow hard water filter. A high performance anti-scale drinking water filter system that prevents scale by transforming dissolved hardness minerals into harmless, inactive microscopic crystal particles. These particles make their way through plumbing systems without latching onto pipes, fixtures, valves or heating elements.

This water filter cartridge set also removes chlorine and chemicals; improving the overall taste and smell of your water.

If your water is harder than 25 grains (427 ppm CaCO3) then OneFlow may not be suitable for you. Check with your local water supplier who will be able to tell you what the hardness measurement is.

Please note that a TDS meter may give you a higher reading but it's measuring all total dissolved solids and not just CaCO3. This is another reason to contact your local water supplier.

Cartridge details:

  • Watts F109009 coconut shell carbon block filter cartridge for chlorine, taste and odour reduction in water.* You also have the opportunity to choose our MaxCL-975 (chlorine guzzler) which is a 0.5 micron carbon block cartridge.
  • 2.5 x 10".
  • 5 micron - up to 99% chlorine removal.
  • Chlorine reduction >4,000 gallons @ 1.0gpm or 12 months; whichever comes first.
  • Thick wall carbon construction for superior performance.
  • Outperforms granulated activated carbon (GAC) cartridges as it has superior chlorine reduction, lower pressure drop and will not channel.
  • Media wrap between centre tube and carbon block to reduce carbon fibres.
  • Maximum operating pressure - 125psi.
  • Operating temperature - 50°F to 125°F / 10°C to 52°C.
  • Tested and certified NSF/ANSI standard 42 for materials only.
  • FDA grade components and materials.
  • Tested and verified by independent laboratory testing.

* On some occasions a different brand of carbon block cartridge may be used in the kit. This will  do the same job as the Watts F109009.

And:

  • 2.5 x 10" plastic canister containing 250ml of Watts A8210 OneFlow anti-scale media.
  • Chemical free scale prevention and protection - converts hardness minerals to harmless, inactive microscopic crystals.
  • Virtually maintenance free - just replace your OneFlow cartridge every 1-2 years.
  • No control valve, no electricity and no wastewater.
  • OneFlow is not a water softener. It does not add chemicals into your water or remove the beneficial minerals.

How to replace TAC media

When you replace the media you need to allow it to become saturated and expand for at least two hours before turning the water flow back on. If you miss this out some of the smaller particles can escape into the pipework and be lost.

Why do I need to change the o-ring?

You can tell if the seals start leaking, which is obvious, I know.

Even if there are no leaks you may find that the profile of the O ring becomes flattened because of prolonged time under compression. The cross section should be round and if it's not it may not seal easily.

However, I recommend that you replace the O rings every two or three years as a precautionary measure.

One of the main reasons for changing O rings periodically is that as they age and compress, the housing bowl needs to be tightened excessively. That leads to difficulty loosening the bowl from the cap next time the cartridge needs to be replaced.
