Pearl Ultracarb Doulton Water Filter

Our Pearl ultracarb Doulton water filter is a highly efficient drinking water filter which removes >99.99% of bacteria, cysts, particles and >95% of lead.

The ceramic Doulton water filter cartridge has a long life and is good value for money. We'll email you every 6 months to remind you to clean the filter and you should only need to change it once every 12 months.

The housing dimensions are 34H x 14W x 13D (volume occupied in cm).

The ultracarb Doulton water filter uses a proprietary system to prevent bacterial growth and it also keeps the minerals in the water that are beneficial to health.

This system is unlike an RO system in that no power is required so it's cost effective to run; protecting you and your family without the need for power.

Your kit will include:

• 1 x white filter housing
• 1 x single white housing bracket
• 1 x 0.5 micron Doulton ceramic and carbon block Ultracarb cartridge (W9223006)
• A choice of drinking water filter taps or you can choose the 'no tap' option. You would choose the 'no tap' option if you already have a tap or wish to buy a 3 way tap.
• Either a self-piercing saddle valve or a 15mm compression valve.
• Blue tubing (approximately 2 metres)
• Red tubing (approximately 2 metres)
• 1 x housing spanner
• DIY instructions - No need for a plumber!

Removal & Re-Installation of the Filter Cartridge

It's important that when handling the new cartridge that you wear gloves or wash your hands before handling. 

• Turn the water supply off and vent any pressure by opening the tap.
• Unscrew the housing bowl from the housing cap using the spanner that would have come with the filter kit. Be careful as it will be full of water. It's handy to sit something underneath the filter to catch any water.
• Remove the old cartridge and either clean it or change it for a new one. 
• Replace the filter and ensure that all seals are positioned and made secure.
• Screw the housing bowl back onto the cap. Hand tighten only. 

How to Clean the Cartridge

The flow rate may reduce over a period of time, depending on the quality of the water that is passing through the water filter cartridge. 

To help restore the water flow and to get as much life out of the water filter cartridge as possible, you can give it a clean. 

• Remove the water filter cartridge. See above. 
• Hold the water filter cartridge in a bowl of water or under running water. Ensure the mount remains clear of the water.
• NEVER use soap or detergent to clean the cartridge. 
• Using a soft bristle brush or lightly abrasive cloth - cup it around the circumference of the filter cartridge. 
• Apply a gentle pressure with the brush or pad and slowly work down the length of the filter element once, ensuring the cleaning is even over the whole fitler cartridge surface.
• Place the filter cartridge back in the housing and screw the housing back onto the cap. Hand tighten only.
• The filter is now ready for use.

Filtering water using naturally occuring raw materials is one of the most effective and oldest methods around.

Douton cartridges emulate the natural world by using mult-stage filtering technology. The end result is a ceramic water filter cartridge that guarantees superior drinking water.

The outer shell of the Doulton cartridges is made up of an extremely versatile ceramic; tough yet flexible. Heat resistant and anti-corrosive.

Once you've connected your Pearl ultracarb Doulton water filter into your mains water, the water will flow through the ceramic cartridge. The pores through which the water flows are less than 1 micron in size. To give you an idea of how small this is; the width of a human strand of hair is approximately 100 microns.

This process gives an effective barrier against waterborne, potentially harmful, nasties in your water at the same time as keeping all of the essential minerals to ensure your water is as healthy as it can be. You will notice that the taste and smell of your water is superior to how it used to be.

Inside each ceramic cartridge is a technology known as BioTech®; an integrated anti-bacterial matrix that inhibits microbiological growth and this prevents the removed bacteria from growing back onto the ceramic cartridge.

You can dispose of the cartridge in an environmentally friendly way also. Break it up and dig it into the garden!
