The Sugarcane 55cl water filter bottle is made entirely from plant based plastic. More on that ingenious production method below.

This further reduces our dependence on fossil fuels and helps you reduce the number of single-use plastic water bottles that you buy.

This water filter bottle is fully recyclable; including the filter insert. 

Sugarcane is grown to produce sugar, and normally the fibrous residue is treated as waste. But not in this instance. 

That waste is left and allowed to ferment. This creates green eco-friendly ethanol. The fibrous material is then dried and compacted to create biofuel bricks. These bricks then fuel two further production processes, and a plant-based plastic is created. 

This new plant based plastic is lightweight, durable and dishwasher safe, and is made from plants, not fossil fuels.

Information about the sustainable sugarcane

Bonsucro is an international not-for-profit, multistakeholder governance group established in 2008 to promote sustainable sugar cane. Its stated aim is to reduce ‘the environmental and social impacts of sugarcane production while recognising the need for economic viability. It does this by setting sustainability standards and certifying sugar cane products including ethanol, sugar and molasses. As of 2019, 25% of global land planted in sugar cane was Bonsucro certified. Bonsucro has more than 500 members in more than 40 countries around the world including farmers, millers, traders, buyers and support organisations.

Water-to-Go water filter bottles are made using Bonsucro accredited suppliers and Water-to-Go has become a Bonsucro member itself.
