Overview

The Aquila 4 in 1 boiling water tap combines the convenience of a boiling water tap, filtered drinking water and a conventional kitchen mixer in one contemporary design. It replaces your standard kitchen tap and removes the need for a separate drinking water tap or kettle, helping to keep your sink area and worktops uncluttered.

Designed with a flexible professional-style spout, the Aquila is particularly practical in a busy kitchen, giving you extra reach for rinsing the sink, filling containers and everyday food preparation.

Filtered drinking water is kept separate from your normal hot and cold supply, while near-boiling water has it's own dedicated outlet. This means all four water functions are delivered from one tap without mixing the filtered drinking water with the standard supply.

The 3 litre hot water tank sits discreetly beneath the sink and provides near-boiling water at up to 98°C whenever you need it. Seven temperature settings allow you to choose between 75°C and 98°C, while the programmable Eco mode can put the tank into standby during periods when it isn't normally used.

Available in chrome, brushed steel and matt black, with different flexible spout options, the Aquila combines the convenience of instand hot and filtered water with the look of a premium contemporary kitchen tap.

Choose this if

It's also a good choice if you want a contemporary statement tap, with a choice of finishes and spout styles to complement your kitchen.

Not ideal if

You only want filtered drinking water and don't need near-boiling water. In that case, a 3 way water filter tap may be a simpler and more economical option.

It may also not be suitable if you have very limited cupboard space beneath the sink, cannot provide the required electrical supply for the boiler, or don't want the additional maintenance associated with a boiling water system.

What to think about before buying

Check that you have sufficient under-sink space for the 3 litre boiler tank and water filter, as well as access for future filter changes and maintenance.

The boiler requires an electrical supply beneath the sink, so factor this into your installation if you don't already have a suitable socket available.

The Aquila delivers near-boiling water at up to 98°C, rather than 100°C, with seven selectable temperature settings from 75°C to 98°C.

You'll also need to allow for ongoing maintenance. The approved water filter should be replaced at the recommended interval and the boiler will need periodic descaling, particularly in hard water areas.

Installation

The Aquila 4 in 1 replaces your existing kitchen mixer tap and connects to the hot and cold water supplies, filtered water supply and 3 litre hot water tank beneath the sink.

The hot water tank measures H 230mm x W 185mm x D 185mm, so make sure you have sufficient cupboard space for both the tank and water filter, with additional room around them for future filter changes and maintenance.

The tank requires a suitable electrical supply beneath the sink. Everything required for the standard installation is supplied, including the connections for the hot water tank and the carbon and scale filter.

The Aquila uses a solid-fix mounting system to provide a secure connection to the sink or worktop. The maximum worktop thickness is 35mm, with a 43mm mounting hole required.

Once installed, the two levers control all four water functions:

• Standard hot and cold water - move the right-hand lever outwards to start the flow, then move it forwards or backwards to adjust the temperature.
• Filtered drinking water - rotate the right-hand lever downwards and towards you. The further it is moved, the greater the flow.
• Near-boiling water - push the left-hand lever away from you to dispense water at the selected temperature, up to 98°C. The lever is spring-loaded and automatically returns to the upright position when released.

The filtered drinking water, standard hot and cold water and near-boiling water use separate outlets within the tap, helping to keep the different water supplies separate.

Maintenance

The Aquila 4 in 1 boiling water tap is designed to be straightforward to maintain.

The filter cartridge should be replaced every six months to help maintain water quality and protect the boiling-water tank from limescale build-up. Whe it's time for a change, use the Acquapuro ACQ-IFC+ replacement filter cartridge.

The boiling water tank should also be descaled every 6 months, particularly in hard water areas. Keeping to the recommended filter replacement and descaling schedule is important for maintaining the performance of the system and the boiler warranty.

Other than routine filter changes and descaling, the Aquila requires very little ongoing maintenance.

Cleaning instructions

Clean the Aquila regularly with warm soapy water and a soft cloth, then rinse and dry the surface to help prevent water marks and limescale deposits.

Avoid abrasive cleaners, scouring pads and harsh chemical cleaning products, as these can damage the tap finish.

For the flexible spout, wipe both the hose and tap body gently rather than scrubbing, paying particular attention to areas where water droplets tend to collect.

If you live in a hard water area, wiping the tap dry after use will hlep reduce visible limescale marks and keep the finish looking its best.

Filter compatibility

The Aquila 4 in 1 is designed to be used supplied with the Acquapuro ACQ-IFC+ carbon anti-scale filter, or your can select the no-filter option at checkout if you already have suitable filtration in place.

The ACQ-IFC+ combines carbon filtration with polyphosphate scale protection. It helps reduce chlorine, taste and odour while helping the boiling water tank against limescale build-up.

For continued protection and performance, the filter cartridge should be replaced every six months or after 6,000 litres, whichever comes first.

If you chools to use an alternative filter, it should provide suitable scale protection for the boiling water tank, particularly in hard water areas.

FAQs

Is 98°C hot enough for tea and coffee?

Yes. The Aquila provides near-boiling water at up to 98°C, so there's no need to boil a kettle for everyday hot drinks. You can also select from seven temperatures between 75°C and 98°C, which is useful when you don't need water at the maximum temperature.

Are boiling water taps safe?

The Aquila's near-boiling water is operated separately from the normal hot and cold supply. The control is spring-loaded, so it automatically returns to the off position when released, helping to prevent the near-boiling water from being left running accidentally. As with a kettle or any appliance dispensing very hot water, it should always be used with appropriate care.

Does a boiling water tap use a lot of electricity?

The Aquila keeps water hot in an insulated 3 litre tank rather than repeatedly heating a full kettle from cold. It also has a programmable Eco mode, allowing the tank to go into standby during periods when you don't normally need near-boiling water. Actual electricity use will depend on your chosen temperature, usage and Eco settings.

Do I still need a kettle with a 4 in 1 boiling water tap?

For most everyday uses, no. The Aquila provides up to 2.7 litres of near-boiling water in one go, so it can be used for tea and coffee as well as many cooking and food preparation tasks. Removing the kettle can also free up useful worktop space.

What's the difference between a 3 in 1 and 4 in 1 boiling water tap?

A typical 3 in 1 boiling water tap provides normal hot, normal cold and near-boiling water. A 4 in 1 tap such as the Aquila adds a fourth function: separately filtered cold drinking water. This means one tap can replace your standard kitchen mixer, separate drinking water tap and kettle.
