Overview

The Fountain Streamline 600 Direct Flow RO System is a high-capacity reverse osmosis system designed to provide purified drinking water directly from your kitchen tap without the need for a separate storage tank.

Its 600 GPD membrane and integrated booster pump produce approximately 1.6 litres of purified water per minute, making it a good choice for households that want the thorough filtration of reverse osmosis with a faster flow rate and less under-sink equipment than a traditional tank-based system.

Water passes through five stages of treatment, including sediment and carbon pre-filtration, the reverse osmosis membrane, post-carbon filtration and a final stabilising stage. This combination reduces a broad range of contaminants, including PFAS, heavy metals, chlorine, dissolved salts and microorganisms, while improving the taste and quality of your drinking water.

The direct-flow design means purified water is produced on demand rather than stored in a tank. An integrated digital display also provides useful information about water quality, filter life and the operating status of the system.

Compact, powerful and easy to monitor, the Streamline 600 is particularly suited to households looking for high-performance reverse osmosis filtration without sacrificing valuable cupboard space to a storage tank.

Is this right for me?

Choose this if

  • You want comprehensive reverse osmosis filtration for your drinking water.
  • You prefer a tankless system that takes up less cupboard space than a traditional RO system with a storage tank.
  • You want purified water on demand, with a flow rate of approximately 1.6 litres per minute.
  • You want to reduce a broad range of contaminants, including PFAS, heavy metals, chlorine and dissolved salts.
  • You like the reassurance of digital monitoring for water quality, filter life and system status.

Not ideal if

  • You don't have an electrical socket available near the installation point. The Streamline 600 uses an integrated booster pump and requires power.
  • You want a completely wastewater-free filtration system. Like all reverse osmosis systems, some water is discharged during the purification process.
  • You only want to improve chlorine taste and odour. A simpler carbon drinking water filter may be more appropriate and less expensive to run.
  • You want to retain virtually all naturally occurring dissolved minerals in your drinking water. Reverse osmosis is specifically designed to reduce dissolved substances.

What to check before buying

Make sure you have sufficient under-sink space, a suitable cold-water supply, a drain connection and a nearby electrical socket.

The Streamline 600 is designed to supply a separate drinking-water tap or compatible 3-way tap, so consider how you would like the purified water delivered at your sink.

Also bear in mind that RO performance can vary with incoming water pressure and temperature. The integrated booster pump helps maintain effective operation and the high direct-flow output.

If your main concern is simply chlorine, taste or odour rather than comprehensive purification, you may not need reverse osmosis. The Streamline 600 is better suited to customers specifically looking for a high-performance tankless RO system.

What it reduces and what it doesn't

Reverse osmosis is designed to reduce contaminants that can pass through conventional sediment and carbon filters.

Contaminant Reduction
PFAS ✔
Lead and other heavy metals ✔
Chlorine, taste and odour ✔
Dissolved salts and minerals (TDS) ✔
Nitrates ✔
Fluoride ✔
Bacteria and other microorganisms ✔
Sediment and fine particles ✔

What it doesn't do

The Streamline 600 is designed for point-of-use drinking water filtration, so it won't treat water throughout your home.

Reverse osmosis also reduces naturally occurring dissolved minerals along with unwanted contaminants. If retaining the mineral content of your incoming water is important to you, a non-RO drinking water filter may be a better choice.

How it works

The Streamline 600 uses five stages of filtration to purify the incoming mains water:

  1. Sediment pre-filter - captures particles such as dirt, rust and sediment before the water reaches the membrane.
  2. Carbon block filter - reduces chlorine and other substances that can affect taste and odour, while helping to protect the RO membrane.
  3. 600 GPD reverse osmosis membrane - separates dissolved contaminants from the water, with the rejected contaminants carried away to the drain.
  4. Post-carbon filter - provides the final treatment to improve the taste of the purified water.
  5. Stabilising filter - conditions the RO water before it reaches the drinking-water tap.

What's included

  • Fountain Streamline 600 Direct Flow RO System with all five filtration stages
  • Stainless steel drinking water tap
  • Integrated booster pump
  • Digital monitoring and electronic leak detection
  • 24V power supply

Installation & placement

The Streamline 600 is designed for under-sink installation and connects to the cold mains water supply, waste pipe and the supplied drinking water tap.

Allow approximately 390mm (H) x 150mm (W) x 460mm (D) for the unit, with additional space around it for the pipework and future filter changes.

A nearby electrical socket is required for the integrated booster pump and electronic monitoring.

As the system produces wastewater during reverse osmosis, a connection to the sink waste pipe is also required.

For a neat and reliable installation, we recommend installation by someone confident working with mains water connections, waste connections and under-sink plumbing.

Maintenance & running costs

The Streamline 600 uses replaceable filter cartridges and an RO membrane to maintain filtration performance and protect the system.

The sediment, carbon and post-treatment filters should be replaced at the recommended intervals, with the digital display monitoring filter life to help you keep track of when replacements are due.

The RO membrane typically lasts longer than the pre and post-filters, with its lifespan depending on incoming water quality and usage. The system also monitors water conductivity, helping you keep an eye on filtration performance.

Replacement filters and membranes are available separately.

FAQs

What is the difference between a direct-flow RO system and a traditional RO system?

A direct-flow system produces purified water as you need it rather than storing it in a separate pressure tank. This saves under-sink space and provides freshly filtered water directly to your tap.

How quickly does the Streamline 600 produce purified water?

The system produces approximately 1.6 litres per minute at 20°C, although actual output can vary with incoming water conditions.

How much wastewater does the system produce?

The Streamline 600 has a recovery rate of approximately 65%, meaning around 65% of the incoming water is converted to purified water under specified operating conditions, with the remainder discharged to waste.

Does it need electricity?

Yes. The integrated booster pump, digital monitoring and electronic controls require a nearby electrical supply.

Does the Streamline 600 come with a drinking water tap?

Yes. A stainless steel dedicated drinking water tap is included with the system.
